Competition Winners 2009

Well the new season has started with the first competition of the year and is probably the worst start to the season I can remember. The weather was atrocious at times with howling wind and rain and a bitter northerly wind that chilled you to the bone which made fishing conditions very difficult indeed. The fact that so many turned out to this competition was testament to the exciting prospect of a new season ahead. Many of those that braved the bad weather were rewarded with either a good bag of fish or a very wet pants. Well done to those that did so well in these conditions.

Aled Jones won the free fishing for Two at Llandegfedd with a fine fish of 3lb 1oz.

There were a few members missing from this picture but it was a happy crowd on what was a very cold day.

A pretty stand of Daffodils brings a little colour on a cold and wet spring day.

A welcome break after a long morning catching nothing.

Calvin Jones fished hard all day for that magic take.

Tal-y-Llyn's backdrop makes even a hard days fishing an enjoyable one.

This looks like the who's who from the FBI's most wanted list

Conditions were perfect for dry fly but the fish thought otherwise and prefered a nymph sub-surface
